Just Do It

There really isn't anything that should be in the way of altering a lifestytle to becoming more green.

The only major expense that could arise in the process the would the cost of solar panels for homes to convert solar energy from the sun into electricity within the home. More than likely; however, the money spent in excess for the solar panels is made up with the accumulation of energy saved each montch. The cost of the electric bill deminishes, and the owners help the environment at the same time.

Also, the ability to conserve water does not come with a high price tag either. Of course by adding water friendly applia nces to the home would be great (very afforable), the ability to save water can be as easy as turning the water off when you brush your teeth and by cutting down on your shower time. No matter how much you contribute, the ability to do anything at all is great and can only help in the long run.

I know that Barack Obama has said a lot abot alternate energy sources in his debates, and I hope that if he is elected, that he will follow through. Being able to create a national sense of urgency with the protection of our envirnment, especially in its economic turmoil, could be one of the best things for the US.

I completely agree that we have the power to make decisions as consumers that can help the environment. Your blog gives many good suggestions. With the drought conditions in our area for the last couple of years, I saw many rain barrels added in the neighborhood, and some have some pretty ingenious irrigation systems with hoses attached.
I don't think we've come anywhere close to reaching our potential as a nation in terms of conservation of resources. I feel like the message just isn't getting to everyone in terms that make it easy for them to understand what they can do and the benefits both for them personally and for the environment. This issue is so critical today, especially if we are to come together and try to make an impact on reducing our dependence on oil in a meaningful way through conservation efforts.

I think this is an extremely important topic in the upcoming election. I saw where you talked about Barack Obama having a plan to improve environmental weaknesses. I am extremely interested in some of the specific details to carry out his plan. Also, are there any specific ideas that John McCain has as well?

The McCain Party was very vague with possible plans in the future. McCain pretty much just acknowledged the fact that some changes would be good. I'll keep my eyes posted to see if any specific plans come from him.

Yea it seems that the main issue with the environment lies with the necessity for society to take the initiative. It seems that if people people were better educated on the issue that they might be more inclined to participate in preserving water and energy. Knowing about the beneficial improvements and also reasons why these need to immediately be in effect.
